Dayjha McMillan

(they/she)
Dayjha McMillan (they/she) is located in and “grew up” in Chief Si'ahl, or Seattle, Washington. Their origins are tied to the Midwest and the Deep South post the Great Migration. Dayjha is a dreamer and schemer, committed to the lifelong practice of playing as a healing endeavor. Writing is how she (re)connects with her child-self, who daydreamed and read hundreds of books as a method to understand and escape a childhood of transience, poverty, and abuse. They self-created an interdisciplinary bachelor's degree at Western Washington University titled "Law, Diversity and Justice: Critiquing the American Dream using Critical Race Theory, Counternarratives, Feminist Theory, and Creative Writing," with a minor in Education and Social Justice. Her work has been supported by the Kenyon Review, Seventh Wave, and Seattle Public Library. She’s published with CHUM News, Haymarket Books in Abolition Feminisms Vol. 2, the Faoileánach Journal, and elsewhere. You can find them on Instagram.
